Edge Makes An Icon

16 Jun 2005
Edge was at the MOJO Awards in London tonight, presenting the 'Icon Award'
to Siouxsie Sioux.

The MOJO Icon Award was presented to Siouxsie Sioux for her 'spectacular
global career'. It was voted for by MOJO readers and the other nominees were
Marc Bolan, John Lydon, David Bowie and The Ramones.

At the same awards Gang Of Four picked up The MOJO Inspiration Award from
Blur's Alex James, beating Pixies, Tom Waits, Morrissey and Neil Young to
scoop the honour. Paul Weller won Mojo Songwriter Award for 'the artist
whose career has been defined by consistently writing classic material.'
Voted for by MOJO readers and presented by last year's winner, the Kinks'
Ray Davies, other nominees included Brian Wilson, Damien Rice, Van Morrison
and Kate Bush.

Madness were honoured with their first ever music award when they were
presented with The MOJO Hall of Fame Award by Dizzee Rascal and Phil
Jupitus.

"This was an amazing night, which brought together real musical heroes."
said MOJO Editor Phil Alexander. "That Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, The Edge
and Sinead O¹Connor just came to present awards, meant that the mutual
respect in the room was simply breathtaking. Between them, the attendees
have sold around half a billion records, something that's simply
staggering."
